Tamarind Chutney

Preparation time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 30 minutes Makes ~4 to 6 people.

INGREDIENTS:  For Magic Red sauce

½ cup of tamarind

2 cups of water

½ tsp cumin seeds

½ tsp of ginger powder

Pinch of asafetida

¼ tsp red chilly powder

8 tsp of sugar ( adjust to taste)

2 tsp oil

Pink or white salt as per taste

Preparation

Soak tamarind in water overnight or 4 hours in hot water.

Squeeze pulp with hand in same bowl. Strain the pulp and keep aside.

Heat oil in small pan.

Lower the flame and add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

Add asafetida.

add Tamarind paste. Add ginger powder, red chili powder Stir and Cook for 2 to 3 min.

Add sugar and cook till paste get  thicken.Cool the chutney and use it.
